Yongin City is accelerating its efforts to become a global semiconductor hub, building on its strategic importance in South Korea’s semiconductor industry.

• Industrial Complex Development:
  • The Advanced System Semiconductor Industrial Complex, a $246.8 billion project led by Samsung Electronics, received final approval in December 2024, with the first plant set to operate by 2030.
  • SK hynix’s $92 billion Yongin Semiconductor Cluster is advancing rapidly, with construction of its first plant beginning in March.
• Infrastructure Expansion:
  • Development of an L-shaped three-axis road network and the Gyeongbu Underground Expressway to alleviate traffic congestion.
  • Expansion of National Route 45 (from four to eight lanes) and construction of the Dongbaek Interchange to improve logistics efficiency.
